Check Ride
In order to be able to fly missions with the group pilots needs to be able to have basic skills in the Viper, and the radio program we use (Simple Radio Standalone). If you do not posses these skills yet, we will teach you.
Core skills:
- Able to use SRS and the radios on the Viper effectively
- Able to speak and listen on 2 different radios (generally tactical & flight radio)
- Able to change radio channels on the Viper, including dialing in frequencies manually
- Able to start the Viper from cold and dark, without using the auto start
- Able to taxi the plane
- Able to fly formation on the lead's wing. Knows and understands the finger four, combat spread and trail formations.
- Able to employ basic weapons (gun, dumb bombs, air to air missiles)
- Able to perform a landing; doesn't have to be on the first attempt, and doesn't have to be pretty
If you do NOT currently have any of these skills that is totally okay, you can still join the squad and be involved with the group. We will happily teach anyone who is willing to learn, including complete novices.
However, we do insist that in order to take part in the regular missions you do need to have these core skills with the Viper. This is simply to ensure missions can proceed smoothly and be an enjoyable experience for all involved
