Aerodrome Procedures
PART 2: Landing Procedures
Approach phase
When you have finished you flight, it is preferable to return to an airfield for landing. This process starts when you start to make your way towards the airfield, and you should start considering what is going to happen as soon as you point your nose towards the airfield.
If you took off from the same airfield you intend to you can already make some assumptions. Unless you have been gone for very long, the same runway will probably still be in use. You can start making all the preparations you need for the approach itself as soon as you want.
As you start to get close to the airfield, you would want to talk to our old friend in the tower to let him know you are on your way. If needed, they can tell you what is going on, where you need to go and even give you directions!
